Smoke and CO inspections for Transfer of Property
We have been receiving many questions from homeowners and brokers as to why we do not schedule our inspections for a specific time. The reason is that we do not have a fulltime fire inspector and all inspections are conducted by on-duty personnel. Their first duty is emergency response and if they are headed to conduct an inspection and a call comes in, they are redirected to respond to that call. In the meantime, a customer is waiting at the home expecting someone to show up for their inspection. In the past, we did provide times which resulted in many phone calls from angry homeowners and brokers asking why we were not there yet. The next question we get is can you call when you are on the way, and the answer is no for the same reason we don’t give times. If we call and then don’t arrive due to an emergency, we receive calls asking why we are not at the inspection and when will we be there! We understand that a window of time can be inconvenient for many, but we feel it is the best way to be open and honest with our citizens.
When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage; Give me the strength to save some life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it's too late
Or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling to give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and protect their property.
And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life;
Please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.
