Skin Cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and most skin cancer is preventable
- Protect your skin from the sun:
- wear a hat
- wear sunglasses
- apply sunscreen
- 1 in 5 Americans develop skin cancer by the age of 70.
- People with the following characteristics are at higher risk for skin cancer:
- Skin that easily burns, freckles, reddens or becomes painful in the sun
- Lighter natural skin color
- Skin with certain types or a large number of moles
- Older age
- Family or personal history of skin cancer
- What should you look for?
- A new growth on the skin
- A change in a mole
- A sore that does not heal
