Grass, Leaves, and Brush Disposal

The State Department of Environmental Protection banned yard waste which includes brush, grass, and leaves from the wastes that can disposed of in landfills and incinerators / resource recovery facilities in 1991 (this regulation can be found at 310 CMR 19.00). Since then the Town of Northborough has made an area at the Highway Garage at 190 Main Street available for residents.
 

Grass, leaves, and brush can be brought to the highway garage any business day between the hours of 8am and 2pm.  The maximum diameter of brush is 4-inches.  Anything larger constitutes log and cannot be accepted by the Town.  This service is only available to the residents of Northborough for private residential use.  Contractors are not allowed.  Please be prepared to provide proof of residency when depositing yard waste and observe the following rules:

  1. No Stumps, Rocks, or Soil
  2. No Lumber, metal, or construction debris
  3. No Brush Larger than 4-Inch Diameter
  4. NO Plastic (bags, bins, etc.)
  5. NO Liquid, Trash, Paint, Other Debris
  6. No Contractors, or Debris from Commercial Properties
  7. Place Grass and Leaves to the Left and Brush to Right
