On Thursday, May 2nd, Solitude Lake Management will begin a non-native plant management program at Bartlett Pond.  A treatment using Sonar Genesis (fluridone) will be applied to all areas of the pond to control non-native fanwort and milfoil.

There are no recreational restrictions for Bartlett Pond following this treatment, however, use of the pond water for irrigation (the treatment is to kill invasive plants, so it’s not good for lawns or gardens) will be restricted for a period of approximately 90 days or until August 2nd.  Following the initial treatment on May 2nd, a series of follow-up herbicide applications will be performed in later May, June and July to achieve desirable control of the target plants.

This treatment is being performed for the Town of Northborough under an Order of Conditions issued by the Northborough Conservation Commission (DEP File # 247-1246) and a permit issued by the Department of Environmental Protection.
