TOWN OF NORTHBOROUGH PRESS RELEASE
Marguerite E. Peaslee Elementary School Building Committee

The Town of Northborough is seeking interested citizens and parents to serve on the Peaslee School Building Committee.  This is an advisory committee charged with overseeing the renovation or rebuilding of the Peaslee School.  The  Committee will consist of various Town Officials and  residents appointed by the Town Administrator, subject to the approval of the Select Board. The make-up of this committee should reflect the diversity of the residents of the community.  We encourage a diverse group to serve on this committee.

The Peaslee School Building Committee shall be responsible for conducting a feasibility study into the options for renovations or new construction at the existing Peaslee Elementary School site.

All ex-officio roles are required to be filled to maintain compliance with MSBA regulations.   These positions will not count toward the quorum, nor will they have a vote on committee matters.

Membership will consist of:

Ex-Officio Members:  
•         Superintendent of Schools
•         Assistant Superintendent of Operations
•         Assistant Superintendent of Schools
•         School Director of Finance
•         Peaslee School Principal
•         Town Administrator
•         Finance Director

Voting Members:
Preference for at least a portion of this group to have prior experience with construction of public buildings:
•         School Committee Member
•         Select Board Member
•         Parks & Recreation Committee Member
•         Residents at Large (four) – financial management, architecture, engineering, and/or construction experience preferred.
