YOUR VISION/COMMON EYE CONDITIONS RELATED TO AGE
Date: Tuesday, August 28
Time: 4:30 PM
Speaker: Shlomit Schaal, M.D., PhD
Since your 40s, you probably noticed that your vision is changing. Perhaps you need glasses to see up close or you have more trouble adjusting to glare or distinguishing some colors. These changes are a normal part of aging. These changes alone cannot stop you from enjoying an active lifestyle or stop you from maintaining your independence. In fact, you can live an active life well into your golden years without ever experiencing severe vision loss. But as you age, you are at higher risk of developing age-related eye diseases and conditions. These include: age-related macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, low vision and dry eye. Please join us as Dr. Schaal, Professor and Department Chair of the Department of Opthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Massachusetts

HERE’S TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH!
As we have often heard, “If you have your health, you have everything”. At the Senior Center, we like to promote a healthy lifestyle through programs that advocate maintaining good health through preventative measures.. We have a Wellness Clinic that’s held on the third Tuesday of every month from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.
You.will also able to make an appointment with Janet Iacovelli, RN from SALMON. Please call for an appointment with the nurse and/or the pharmacist. Walk-ins are welcomed as well..
Many of you remember Jeremy KW Spiewak PharmD RPh who worked at Shattuck Pharmacy in Northborough. Jeremy is now working in Southborough and has offered to do a “Brown Bag Medication Review” a few times a year at our Senior Center during our Wellness Clinic. During the "check-up", the pharmacist will review all of the medications and products you are currently taking. He can double check these medications for the correct dosage strength, frequency, or identify if you are using outdated or discontinued medications
Additionally, the Northborough Board of Health has generously partnered with SALMON VNA & Hospice to offer a blood pressure clinic the first Tuesday of every month from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Senior Center.
These services are free of charge and are made possible by the efforts and funding of the Friends of the Northborough Senior Center, Inc. and the Northborough Board of Health in recognition of the importance of extending public health services to our valuable senior population.
