Meals Program Assistant – Bistro @ 119
The Town of Northborough Senior Center seeks applicants for a temporary, part-time, Program Assistant position to support the Bistro @ 119. Working under the direction of the Program Coordinator (Bistro Manager), responsibilities include the following: set up/prepare serving and dining areas; assist with food preparation using commercial kitchen equipment; serve food with a positive and courteous demeanor; address immediate customer concerns, questions and needs in order to provide an optimal experience; follow food handling health and safety regulations; break down serving and dining areas; clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, dining ware, linens, serving ware, and work areas; re-stock clean equipment, utensils and serving and flat ware to proper storage areas. Assist with menu planning, maintaining
inventory of food and supplies and ordering food and supplies.
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, this position will also assist the Program Coordinator by providing daily oversight, coordination and training of the volunteers working in the Bistro.
The ideal candidate will be an engaging individual who demonstrates empathy and sensitivity to the needs of mature citizens and their families. Prior food service experience and ServSafe certification preferred; upon hire, any candidate who does not possess the ServSafe Certification will be required to obtain the certification as a condition of employment. Manual dexterity is required to prepare meals and operate commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, stoves, slicer and sanitizer. The employee is frequently required to stand, carry dishes and equipment, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing more than 30 pounds.
