Employment Opportunity: Assistant Director of Public Works

The Town of Northborough, MA seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Public Works.  This position assists in  managing the day-to-day activities, personnel & equipment of a progressive and well-equipped Department that provides  Highway, Parks, Cemetery, Engineering, Water and Sewer operations to approximately 14,500 residents. Northborough’s 19 square mile land area supports a combination of suburban residential development and significant commercial/industrial development. Approximately 80 percent of the Town is served by a public water supply.  The department’s operating budget for FY2017 is approximately $6.5 Million, inclusive of the Water & Sewer Enterprise Funds.

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and a minimum of 7 years of job-related experience in municipal public works or municipal engineering, including 2 years supervisory experience, or equivalent. Massachusetts Professional Engineer’s License preferred. Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle License, Massachusetts Drinking Water Supply Facilities License, Grade II and Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s License, Grade II are required. Candidates must demonstrate that they are capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with municipal officials, state and federal officials and the community at large.  Anticipated hiring range: $80,768 – 92,883; maximum of salary range is $104,998, plus excellent benefits.
