Forestry 2 was utilized for much the same purpose as Forestry1. As the second-due unit to respond to brush related incidents, Forestry 2 has the ability to gain access to the most remote areas of the community. Like Forestry 1, Forestry 2 is a military surplus unit refurbished by N.F.D. members for brush firefighting. This rugged unit is 4-wheel drive with high ground-clearance and full undercarriage skid-plate protection. Large diameter tires and front-mounted winch help to keep the unit from being mired off-road. A skid-mounted tank and portable pump provide a 200 gallon supply of water that can be applied at 60 gpm. Forestry 2 carries foam concentrate in liquid form for direct loading to the supply tank. A chainsaw allows for greater access to wooded areas as well as aiding in overhaul operations. Additionally, Forestry 2 carries
back-pack pump cans for spot fires, and various hand-tools.
