PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS
Family & Youth Services collaborates with several organizations to maximize the support and resources provided to residents. Many of these partnerships allow residents the convenience of completing their applications right here in Town at our office located in the Town Hall. We manage in part the following programs:
Fuel Assistance Program
Family & Youth Services is an Intake Site for the Fuel Assistance Program through South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Framingham. We assist residents in their application to this federal program which is designed to help low-income households afford the cost of heat during the winter months. Applications are typically available beginning on November 1st. Please contact Kathy at 508-393-5020 to facilitate the process.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
The Supplimental Nutrition Assistance program (formerly the food stamp program) is a federal program designed to help low-income individuals and families buy the food they need for good health. Benefits are provided on an electronic card and accepted at most grocery stores. If you would like assistance with your application please contact Kathy at 508-393-5020. You may also check your eligibility and apply for this benefit online.
Trustees of Special Benevolent Funds
The Director of Family & Youth Services is the liaison to the Special Benevolent Funds. The Trustees are comprised of three Northborough residents appointed by Selectmen to evaluate the need for financial support to residents experiencing a crisis. The Director of the Senior Center also serves as a referral source to this Fund.
Northborough Extended Day Program, Inc.
In 1987 the Department of Family & Youth Services created a new program, the Northborough Extended Day Program (NEDP). This program is now a private, non-profit organization that continues to work closely with Family & Youth Services.
NEDP provides high quality before/after school child care in Grades K-5 in the Northborough Public Elementary Schools. NEDP serves an important need for working parents or for parents seeking a social environment for their child. To learn more about NEDP click here
The Northborough Food Pantry
Family & Youth Services was also instrumental in helping to create The Northborough Food Pantry. FYS works closely with the Food Pantry which is an important source of supplemental food to those who are on a limited income or with an acute need.
