What is NEDP?
NEDP (Northborough Extended Day Programs) is a private, non-profit organization that provides before and after school child care for school – aged children in grades K-5 in the Northborough school district. The various organized teacher led as well as child initiated activities meet each child’s need for recreation, cultural enrichment, cooperative play and social learning.
Where are the programs located?
NEDP programs are located in each of the four elementary schools (Lincoln Street, Peaslee, Proctor and Zeh schools) and utilize the cafeteria, gymnasium and outdoor play areas for programming.
What are the hours of operation?
Before School Care (presently in operation at Lincoln Street and Peaslee School) is open from 7:00 a.m. until school begins.
Extended Day Care begins at the dismissal of school until 6:00 p.m.
Is NEDP a licensed program?
NEDP is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
What are the qualifications of the staff?
NEDP staff members meet EEC regulation requirements to work with children in school-aged settings. They are mature, highly trained and chosen for their experience, creativity and sensitivity to the needs of children. Our staff attends to each child’s individual needs, leads and facilitates activities that promote their physical, emotional and social growth. All staff are required to participate in the EEC required background record check policy.
What is the ratio of staff to children?
The ratios determined by EEC are 13 children to 1 staff. NEDP averages an 8 children -1 staff ratio.
What is the average daily enrollment at NEDP?
The average daily enrollment at Lincoln is 18, Peaslee is 25, Proctor is 40 and Zeh is 57.
Will there be an opportunity for my child to meet the NEDP staff prior to the start of school?
Yes, you may contact the administrative office to schedule a time to visit NEDP while in session. Usually the best time to visit is anytime after 4pm.
Does NEDP offer a summer program?
No, however the Northborough Town Recreation Department offers a summer camp.
Does NEDP offer vacation programs?
Yes, NEDP offers care for February and April Vacation weeks. This vacation program requires a separate sign-up and tuition for the all day program from 8am - 6pm Tuesday - Friday (Monday is a holiday and we are closed).
